Hi Everyone! I hope you are all getting your creative juices flowing! Autism Awareness Week is upon us! (Actually, the real Autism Awareness Month is April, but I wanted to give you all an opportunity to share in this experience as most of you will not be in my class next semester.)
An overview of what we discussed yesterday: We want to make posters, sell something and donate the money (pins?), make a video, and talk to classes. I will also be looking into t-shirts.
A few groups have let me know that they want to work after school on their posters (which is essentially your homework for this week!). I will be in my room both today (Wednesday) and tomorrow (Thursday) after school. I will also be in my room a few days next week. If you want to complete your poster at home, you are more than welcome to do that. It will need to be turned in to me by Monday. Your requirements with this project is that you must make a poster and turn it in to me so we can hang them next week. Also, if you do your poster at home, I want to be able to approve what you are writing before you do it. So please make sure that I see your plan first! I have poster-board in my room that you can pick up.
As for the video, start coming up with an idea of what you would like to do. I would like everyone involved in some way (write the script, be in the video, editing the video, etc.). I will start a Google Doc that I will share with each of you. In the Google Doc I need everyone to sign up for something and to start to formulate a plan.
Finally, each of you needs to come up with a "script" of what you would say to your classmates about autism. Whether this is over the intercom or visiting a few classes, we will decide soon. But you each need to know what you, or your friends, are going to say. I will be looking for this in a Google Doc from you.
Have a great "planning week"! Let me know if you have any questions.
