Hello LINKS Students! I hope you enjoyed our class time yesterday. It was good opportunity to fix some kinks that were occurring with technology. By now everyone should be turning in their assignments via Google Docs.
This week we are focusing on some of the basics of autism. It is important that as advocates for your peer, you have an understanding of why they are the way they are. I also hope that you will start to think about the families of your peer and what it means for them to have a child/sibling with autism. We will be discussing this further later in the semester.
Make sure you read the article from the Autism Speaks website (located in the Homework link). You also need to watch the following video and incorporate information from it into your assignment.

What I want you to take away from this video are the signs to look for in a baby/toddler. You might notice that some of our peers still show some of these behaviors. Some of children with autism miss showing a few of these signs, while others show all of them. Before watching this video did you know to look for some of those things with young cousins or siblings or any other babies that you might know? Post your answer as a blog comment.
Don't forget to check the homework page to see your assignments for this week. You do not have a lot to do this week because I am seeing you twice (Case Conferences!) and I want you to focus on your potential "blog post" (hint hint, make it good!). Have a great week! Please see me if you have any questions or concerns.
