Welcome to the LINKS Website! I hope you found everything okay. Please take notice of the different webpage links above. The ones that you will use the most are the Blog and the Homework links. Please let me know if you have any questions about the website.
I am so excited to have you all in class! It has been a wonderful start to our school year. I am already so impressed with how well you are doing with the boys! We will go over a lot of information on how to best be pro-active when it comes to being in class with the boys and how best to help, but not baby them. So far, you all have been amazing, but it's important information to know and understand!
One thing that I want you to keep in mind is our Carly video. Remember how in the beginning no one thought anything was going on up in her head? Well they quickly found out that she was a lot smarter than she let on! Think about that when you are working with the boys! We do not know how much they are capable of, so it is very important to keep pushing and to have high expectations of them!
Some of you are seeing some difficult behaviors with one of our peers right now. I want to be there to help you to the best of my ability, but know that these behaviors are new to me too and so we are going to have to work through this together! I promise that it will get better- it always does. But we may still see some worse behaviors before that happens. Don't be alarmed. We will work together and I will give you as many tools as possible to help him.
Have you been noticing that I do not use any of our peer's names on the blog? It is very important that we do not. This is part of that confidentiality piece. Please make sure that when you are answering one of my blog questions in the comments section that you do not use their names either. I know you guys will be able to handle this just fine- and I can usually figure out who you are talking about based on your description, so no worries.
Finally, I am very excited to get to know you all better as this semester continues. Let's start right here on the blog. Please comment and answer these four questions:
- What is your favorite extracurricular activity (or your favorite thing to do outside of school)?
- What is your favorite class?
- How many siblings do you have?
- What are you most excited about for LINKS?
I hope you are having a great first week with the boys! As always, please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. I am here to help guide you through these first few nerve-wracking days. You all are doing GREAT, so don't worry about a thing. I promise, it will get easier! (I have the same unsure feelings as you do every single year!)
