Thank you so much for a great class-time experience today. I thoroughly enjoyed having you all in one room and being able to answer your questions and discuss your role with your peers. I hope that you took some important information away from our class today that will help you in the weeks to come. In your comment, please let me know what was said today that you think you will find to be the most beneficial for you in your class. But please make sure that you do not use your peer's name. Remember our confidentiality rules.
I also hope that you gained a lot from having Mrs. Kleinheksel come in to share some of her OT (Occupational Therapy) knowledge. Her information for you will be very beneficial for your other assignment this week. Remember, I want you to make me a Google Doc with your ideas on how to incorporate sensory into your peer's class time. Just make me a list and share it with me.
Finally, please watch this video below. It's a simulation of how it feels for one teenager with autism to go shopping at a grocery store. Beware, it's going to be loud so only watch when appropriate. Also, make sure you have sound available or you will not get the full effect.
I hope you guys have a great second week with your peers. Remember, you are making a difference for more than your peer. You are making a difference for the teacher whose class you are in, you are making a difference for the other kids in that class and you are making a difference in the atmosphere of Jenison Jr. High. Thanks for all that you are doing!
