So let's get planning! What do you want to do? What are some ideas that you may have? A few of my guidelines:
- We cannot do an assembly
- We cannot raise money as this will be the same week as "Your Change Can Change Hunger"
- What we decide upon needs to be prepared for in just one week.
- You may have to do some things on your own time for homework, so keep that in mind.
Think about this:
What is our purpose for Autism Awareness Week? What would you like to get across to your peers? How is the best way to do this?
One thing that I would like to accomplish during this week is recruitment! We do NOT have enough LINKS for next semester, and I would like to take this opportunity to do that during this time. This is also an opportunity for you all to encourage your friends who may not have applied last year but now are interested in it because you all love it so much! ;-)
Some of the things that have happened in the past are: posters in the hallway, autism ribbons being handed out, "Stop the R-Word" campaign (which we have not talked about yet this year, but will!), announcements in the morning, decorating the front hallway showcase... and I can't remember what else. I think the poster is important and a great way for other kids be aware that we are doing an autism week- so plan on doing that. We will make time for it in our next meeting.
As for anything else, it is up to you! Share your ideas and get creative! I love hearing and brainstorming new ideas that have not happened before.
Finally, I have another football video for you guys. Thanks to Matt for finding this! I'm sorry to those of you who do not enjoy sports- I know that I show a lot of videos about them! I'll keep my search out for videos that show accomplishments without sports involved.
Enjoy this video. It's definitely another tearjerker. Comment on this blog about why this video is so inspirational for you (hopefully it is!).
Have a great "planning weekend/week"! Let me know if you have any questions.
