Welcome to your first AAW! We will be kicking everything off on Monday by hanging our posters! We have also decided that we will be doing a few morning announcements and a little autism information session within a few classrooms.
I will be sending out a Google Doc to each of you in order to have you sign up for either morning announcements or to go into a classroom to speak. Everyone needs to do at least one! Be on the lookout for this document and sign up ASAP!
Once you sign up for what you want to do, part of your homework will be to make the script that you want to share. I will be checking these and pairing you up with how I see best. AAW always gets a little hectic, so be prepared to be flexible!
Remember what our goals are: 1) To inform people about autism and some of the misconceptions out there. 2) To recruit great 8th graders for next semester. 3) To begin recruitment for 7th graders for May!
Here is a list of everything that we will be doing next week:
- Posters in the hallway (with 1 fact)
- Morning announcements
- Classroom information sessions
- Puzzle pieces passed out at lunch after Wednesday
- Recruitment tables at lunch after Wednesday
One final reminder before I leave you with a video: Most of your homework will need to be done BEFORE Wednesday, so plan accordingly. I know this is a change from our usual, but it is important to be ahead of the game with this week! I expect your posters and scripts to be done over the weekend. I plan to grade these and have them ready for you on Tuesday.
Email me if you have any questions over the weekend. I will answer you ASAP! Thanks for your hard work everyone!
Now for one of my all-time favorite videos... Such a powerful message! I hope it hits home for you all
Oh no! I almost forgot!
